ABOUT US

At Willow Tree Mind & Wellness we specialize in teaching Neurodivergent children and youth Social Emotional Learning skills (SELs), Executive Functioning, and Social Skills to promote Mental Health & Wellness in fun and creative ways! We offer a wide range of programs and services with a foundation in positive psychology and behavioural science to provide a balanced approach to our therapy sessions. We believe in a holistic and individualized approach to therapy and provide specialized programming for children and youth with Autism and ADHD.
This is a part-time, independent contactor position for Saturdays 10am-4pm

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • We are looking for an experienced Early Childhood Educator or Child Development Specialist to lead the facilitation of our Early Intervention program for children with Autism or special learning needs (4-6 year old’s) on Saturdays.
  • Our program uses strategies from Child development, positive psychology, social-emotional learning and behavioural sciences.
  • This is a play-based early intervention group therapy program.
  • We believe that therapy should be fun! We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about the work you do and love having fun while you do it.
  • You will work collaboratively with ABA Therapists and Social Workers.
  • The program is clinically supervised by a Masters level Registered Social Worker.
  • The chosen candidate must commit to working Saturdays from September 13th - December 13th (thanksgiving weekend off) from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The program runs across 3 terms (Sept-Dec, Jan-March and April-June) the right candidate will be welcomed to continue supporting the program throughout the year!
  • There may be other opportunities for growth if the candidate is a good fit for our team long term.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma or University Degree: Early Childhood Education, Child Development, child and youth work, Social Work, or other Child development related field.
  • At least 5 years experience working directly with children.
  • At least 1 year of Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • The ability to lead and engage a group of 6-8 children.
  • Excellent lesson planning, and Independently developing creative and fun learning activities.
  • Experience teaching social-emotional learning concepts and early social skills.
  • Must be fun, enthusiastic and truly enjoys working with children.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and confidence delivering instructions and feedback to supporting staff.
  • Strong documentation and progress report writing skills.
  • Professional and confident when communicating with parents.
  • Reliable, punctual and organized.
  • Excellent communication skills between team members.
  • Strong computer skills is an asset.
  • Current First Aid and Vulnerable Sector Check required.

Responsibilities
  • Collaboratively develop creative and engaging lesson plans (2 hours in duration) for a social group / early intervention (therapy) program for children 4-6 years old that have Autism, ADHD or social-emotional challenges.
  • Be a strong interdisciplinary team member (alongside ABA therapists and social workers).
  • Problem solve and manage children’s challenging behaviours during the group.
  • Lead the implementation of therapeutic programming under the supervision of a Registered Social Worker.
  • Be a part of assessment and goal setting for clients in you group.
  • Complete daily session notes and ensure documentation is organized and completed.
  • Basic data collection and progress tracking throughout the program.
  • Participate in progress report writing.
  • Communicate with parents in person and via our parent portal to ensure parents are knowledgeable about their children’s progress in the program.
  • Uphold client confidentiality when communicating with parents and team mates.
  • Advocating for clients, liaising with schools and other professionals.
    This is an independent contractor position - potential for employment in the future.
