Job Title Early Childhood Educator Level I Immediate Supervisors Director of Childcare Services, Supervisor of Childcare Services Classification ECE Level I Wage Starting at $18.36 per hour  Closing Date: January 2, 2026 Start Date: January 5th, 2026 until November 30, 2026 (Maternity Leave Coverage). Job Purpose Under the direction of the Childcare Services Director, the ECE provides trustworthy child care for families and educates children by providing a nurturing and stimulating environment based on the multicultural philosophy of the Center. This position plays a crucial role in helping each child develop his/her potential: physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially, and creatively. Duties and Responsibilities Quality Control ·       Ensures the health and safety of children by maintaining a clean and safe Center, including equipment, toys and activity supplies; practicing safety procedures, and following regulations. ·       Ensures the health and nutrition of children by planning and preparing lunches and snacks, consulting with nutritionists, following menu guidelines, and assisting with feeding the children and clean up after meals. ·       Maintains kitchen operations by purchasing food supplies, kitchen equipment, following Food Safe practices, and purchasing other related Daycare supplies. Communication and Rapport ·       Establishes and maintains a caring, rich, and culturally-affirming environment with age-appropriate activities that promote learning through play, thinking, and children's self-confidence. ·       Guides the children’s behaviour by using positive reinforcement, encouragement, and logical consequences, consistently following behaviour guidelines established by the Center, and appropriately responding to behaviour problems. ·       Works in partnership with parents by welcoming and integrating families, informing parents daily about their children's experiences, and encouraging parent involvement. Evaluation and Reporting ·       Observes children, evaluates their progress, and provides appropriate encouragement and skill development activities. ·       Supports the development of children by planning and providing appropriate programming based on assessments and evaluations. ·       Records noteworthy incidents and observed health- and/or behaviour-related issues. ·       Keeps supervisor informed by regular reporting as required and advising them on emergent issues. ·       Provides program information/data by maintaining required records, preparing required reports, and reporting at and participating in staff meetings. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience ·       Certification for Level I for Early Childhood Education, as determined by the provincial Child Day Care Branch and one year of experience as a day care worker. Required Licenses and/or Certifications ·       Criminal Occurrence Security Check – Must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check in good standing and within three months prior to first day of employment.  ·       Early Childhood Educator Level 1 Certification. ·       Certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR.
