Pay Grid: 16.50-19.30

The successful candidate is required to have the following:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS/PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

  • Child Development Certificate (Level 1, 2, or 3)· Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (with vulnerable sector search), within the last six months
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with class 07 automobile insurance coverage business use (or pleasure with occasional business use) and a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability coverage

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Thorough working knowledge of the Government of Alberta’s Childcare Licensing Regulations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the confidentiality required for the protection of the children and parents
  • Ability to prepare neat accurate written work
  • Skilled communication and observation techniques
  • Ability to organize and implement daily programming
  • Ability to work with others
  • Ability and flexibility to work with all age groups
  • Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
  • Ability to understand and implement daily routines

INTERPERSONAL/COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and the senior leadership team
  • Ensure workplace conflicts are resolved quickly, following YMCA policies and procedures
  • Ensure communication with children is age and developmentally appropriate
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with caregivers
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Child Care Supervisor, this role is responsible for the daily and monthly planning and implementation of the YMCA’s Playing to Learn curriculum. Based on the children’s interests, this position ensures all programming is age appropriate and develops the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual skills of the children.
