We’re looking for an ECE who feels most at home in nature, believes in risky play, and sees the outdoors as the ultimate learning environment. In our child-led, nature-based program, educators support children to take big leaps—physically, socially, and imaginatively—while grounded in a deep culture of respect and safety. If you have a background in forest or nature-based education and have a calm, confident presence outdoors, prioritizing children’s well-being and safety, we’d love to hear from you.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re seeking an experienced educator who brings both confidence and curiosity—someone who can support children in an outdoor environments with a calm, grounded presence while engaging in reflective, responsive practice.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a valid ECE Certificate and current First Aid certification (childcare level)
  • Have training or experience in nature-based education, and follow recognized best practices in early learning
  • Are familiar with the BC Early Learning Framework and value co-constructed, child-led curriculum
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating welcoming spaces for all children and families
  • Bring a mindset of lifelong learning, curiosity, and reflective practice
  • Thrive in collaborative teaching partnerships grounded in respect, open communication, and shared responsibility

Responsibilities

This is a full-time, in-ratio position supporting a group of up 16 children aged 3–6. We spend a large portion of our day in Banfield Park, a public park located on along the Gorge Waterway, and in the surrounding community, engaging with the natural world through a lens of curiosity, care, and respect. Rain or shine, we spend time outdoors every day. We believe that all weather is good weather when you’re dressed for it.
Our child-led, play-based approach is guided by theBC Early Learning Framework and rooted in strong relational practice. We value inclusive, responsive programming that honours each child as a unique individual—supporting their identities, interests, and ways of being.
