Alexander First Nation Head Start Program invites applications for a dedicated Early Childhood Educator to lead our preschool program (ages 3–5). Reporting to the Program Director, you will be instrumental in developing, delivering, and continuously improving culturally safe and responsive early learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising staff, guiding program development, and a deep appreciation for Indigenous culture, traditions, and community inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS
You hold Level 3 Early Childhood Educator certification under Alberta’s ELCC standards. You possess a recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, and current First Aid/CPR certification. You bring proven experience in program development for preschool-aged children, combined with supervisory leadership. Experience working in First Nations, Indigenous, or culturally diverse settings, with demonstrated cultural sensitivity, is essential. Familiarity with Alberta’s FLIGHT framework and inclusion of First Peoples Principles of Learning is considered a strong asset.

You will lead program design and daily implementation that supports the physical, emotional, cognitive, and cultural development of preschool children. You will mentor and supervise a team of ECEs and assistants, ensuring professional growth and consistent service quality. Working closely with community Elders, Education Council representatives, and parents, you will integrate Cree cultural teachings, language, and protocols into the curriculum. You will manage resources and operational needs efficiently, maintain compliance with Alberta’s Early Learning and Child Care standards, and oversee logistics including scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
