Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES – THE FOLLOWING ARE EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES ASSIGNED TO THE EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSISTANT CENTER DIRECTOR. OTHER RELATED PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  • Maintain and oversee clean, sanitary, organized, developmentally appropriate, positive, and creative early childhood programs and classrooms.
  • Ensure all State and local health, safety, funding, and quality programing rules and guidelines are maintained.
  • Possess good customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and situations effectively.
  • Provide for careful and effective supervision of individual and groups of children, on and off campus, in accordance with District established policies and procedures and Colorado’s Office of Early Childhood Child Care Licensing Rules.
  • Provide direct supervision to Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants in the absence of the Center Director.
  • Will be directed to monitor staff performance and provide coaching and mentoring for performance improvement and professional development. Deliver day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure high performance, and to promote positive employee relations.
  • Coordinate with school staff and building administrators regarding program needs.
  • Work cooperatively with the Early Childhood Instructional Facilitator, the Early Childhood Special Educator, and all service providers.
  • Manage the Teaching Strategies GOLD® assessment accounts for one’s designated classroom and all program children. Support the Center Director in assuring that the data is used to monitor student progress and guide lesson design and classroom activities to support children in meeting the Colorado Early Learning Developmental Guidelines (ELDG).
  • Assist the Center Director in monitoring the quality implementation of Creative Curriculum and the selected behavior guidance program in the classroom and assure it is carried out center-wide.
  • Implement the Roaring Fork School District’s High Quality Inclusion program model with fidelity. Work collaboratively with instructional facilitator, consultants, Early Childhood Special Educators and Special Service Providers to implement this plan.
  • Implement the collaborative teaming and Practice Based Coaching models detailed in the High Quality Inclusion program model.
  • Create an inviting atmosphere for families by being welcoming, friendly, supportive to their needs, and inviting them to participate in their child’s education and in supporting the center.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, teachers, and district staff both in English and Spanish.
  • Maintain a Large Center Director credential level and an up-to-date Professional Development Information System (PDIS) account.
  • Attend required meetings and continuing education sessions and meet Colorado’s Office of Early Childhood Child Care Licensing’s required training and professional development hours.
  • Attend IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed.
  • In the absence of the Center Director, effectively act as the Center Director assuring the health and safety of the staff and children while supporting quality implementation of programming
  • Provide first aid, and health-related services as needed.
