JOB SUMMARY

KEY Education is looking for a full-time, highly qualified Early Childhood Teacher/ Coordinator to support the Little Scholars Education Department in teaching, and performing the administrative tasks of the department and its programs. The Early Childhood Teacher/ Coordinator oversees teacher schedules, curriculum updates, contractor supervision, and effective communication with staff, parents, and students. We run a variety of afternoon, after-school and weekend Little Scholars education programs at our campus. This position is required to work one day on the weekend.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid BC Child Care License - ECE.
  • A Degree from an accredited institution in Education or related field is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with children between the age of 2-6 years old in an educational context.
  • Montessori and/or Reggio training is an asset.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Be able to work flexibly.

YOUR SKILLS:

  • Passionate in teaching children between the ages of 2 to 6 years.
  • Manage small groups of students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff.
  • Working familiarity with educational technology; internet and email systems, online database, and word processing software.
  • Punctuality and reliability to meet all scheduled class sessions.
  • Cultural sensitivity: promote an inclusive environment exemplified by understanding various cultural groups.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Lead children through a 2-hour group lesson plan that focuses on developing academic and social/emotional competencies to aid in private school preparation.
  • Evaluate students on an ongoing basis to ensure that all the child’s learning needs are met.
  • Act as a role model for students, and maintain a positive relationship with families and their children to promote a love of learning.
  • Plan and implement KEY’s curriculum in accordance with program objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and company philosophy.
  • Plan educator scheduling, including review of timesheets, implementing and monitoring assigned projects to educators.
  • Find coverage for full-time and contract educators and plan for holidays and absences each term
  • Assist teachers with the schedule for updating curriculum and implementation each term
  • Work integrally with KEY educators to evaluate, revise and recommend improvements of the current curriculum and learning resources.
