POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Toddler Assistant Teacher
REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Education Program Director
STATUS: Non-exempt, Full Time (Up to 40 hours per week)
SALARY: $22.00 TO $24.00 Per Hour

SUMMARY:

Provide a comfortable and secure environment for children to meet their emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs. Organize and present materials that are age appropriate. Help refugee and immigrant children maintain their home language and culture while learning English and feel emotional and socially comfortable in a pre- school setting. Provide information to parents on childcare techniques as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • ECE Initial Certificate
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early learning setting.
  • Must meet all required state and federal health and safety guidelines (CPR, First Aid, TB test, HIV, CPS Training, etc.).
  • Clear Portable Background Check
  • Current food handler’s permit.
  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to maintain a positive and supportive attitude.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual or bicultural in Vietnamese, Chinese, Amharic, Somali, Spanish, Arabic, or other languages.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of HighScope, or similar approaches.
