POSITION SUMMARY

The Early Head Start Home Visitor provides home-based services to families with children ages birth to three years old. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities in both the home environment and socialization settings. The Home Visitor promotes child and family development by modeling positive behaviors, empowering parents as their children’s first teachers, and connecting families to support services and community resources.

HOME VISITS & EDUCATION

  • Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits with families.
  • Implement curriculum to support child development in home and group settings.
  • Facilitate socialization experiences and family group activities.
  • Conduct screenings and ongoing developmental assessments.
  • Collaborate with families to establish family development goals and document them in Family Partnership Agreements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a Home-Based CDA credential or equivalent coursework toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with children and families in a human services setting.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to work with families from diverse, low-income backgrounds.
  • Empathetic, respectful, and professional approach.
  • Flexibility to work in families’ homes within high-risk communities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency with word processing and documentation systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the community.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks related to home visits.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • English proficiency required; bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
