Description

The Early Learning Apprenticeship Coach provides consistent, high-quality technical assistance, coaching, and training to Early Childhood Apprentices. The Early Learning Apprenticeship Coach is focused on supporting early childhood educators throughout the apprenticeship process by facilitating the application of skills learned into the classroom setting. The Early Learning Apprenticeship Coach will guide apprentices in setting professional teaching goals, analyzing and reviewing data and adjusting teaching strategies to improve outcomes and apprenticeship completion through continuous improvement and high-quality early childhood care and education. This position may support apprenticeship placements in Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES



    • Demonstrated experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion practices into teaching and coaching methods.

    • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children 0-8 years of age.
    • Ability to use equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities such as, but not limited to, computer and virtual training software such as Zoom and PowerPoint, early childhood management software, Google Sheets, and more.
    • Experience with identifying teaching practice needs.
    • Ability to facilitate the implementation of teaching practice improvement goals.
    • Ability to develop and effectively present training to adults.

    • Facilitates the completion of apprenticeship using individualized coaching plans with early childhood educators that include teaching practice goals and the steps for achieving them.
    • Assesses early childhood educator teaching practices.
    • Collects and shares identified program and teaching practice data to support early learning program and system improvement.
    • Conducts regular, focused observation of early childhood educators.
    • Provides observational feedback that highlights strengths and areas of growth in teaching practices.
    • Schedules, plans, and facilitates on-site visits and coaching sessions throughout the year.
    • Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve outcomes for children and families.
    • Provides professional learning supports apprenticeship completion.
    • Understands key competencies, best practice standards, licensing requirements, and grant requirements (e.g. curriculum, assessment, family engagement, NAEYC standards and competencies).
    • Provides coaching focused on, but not limited to, inclusionary practices, trauma informed practice, screening and assessment, educational planning, dual language learners, equity, and family engagement.
    • Works collaboratively with Early Learning program administrators to support apprenticeship program.
    • Supports early childhood educators with professional development/Oregon Registry/education goals.
    • Provides Early Childhood Education training and development to early childhood educators in-person and/or virtually.
    • Supports placement opportunities in the community for early learning educators upon completion of apprenticeship programs.
    • Participates in professional learning opportunities, and job-related training.
    • Maintains documentation to meet program and state requirements.
