Job Description Seeking an Early Years Coach to join our amazing Early Years Pedagogy team Fixed term Contract for 8 Months, 4 days a week with a possible extension School Readiness Funding dependant $97,742 - $122,224 per annum (pro-rata) plus Superannuation in accordance with Qualification & experience Paid school holidays Hume City Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing and culturally diverse councils. As an Early Years Practice Coach, you will engage with Hume Early Years services to support program staff in the delivery of high quality, developmentally appropriate children’s education programs which supports and enrich children’s learning. Reporting to the Coordinator for Quality and Pedagogy, and alongside a teach of experienced coaches, you will provide coaching support for early childhood educators and teachers to implement practice change through engagement with Hume Early Years staff to support the learning, implementation and reflection of the selected School Readiness Funding (SRF) menu items What you’ll be doing: Build sustained relationships with early years teams to work collaboratively to drive continuous improvement and best practice Use coaching strategies to support individuals, teams and services growth by implementing evidenced-based pedagogy and inclusion strategies and, supporting School Readiness Funding outcomes Operate within the requirements of Councils policies and procedures and SRF regulatory requirements Identify and discuss opportunities to extend community interest, resources and practice change in line with the SRF objectives Use a collaborative approach to supporting educators to learn and adopt new approaches to inform their work with children Using the VEYLDF to work in accordance with the eight practice principles to implement coaching processes with a key focus to ‘reflective practice’ Ability to demonstrate their working knowledge of the National Quality Framework Keep abreast of current issues and contemporary early childhood research to support the service’s ongoing continuous improvement process Use reflective practice and additional strategies to promote positive outcomes for the early childhood educators and teachers and the children they influence Through coaching techniques provide feedback and information that is accurate, current, meaningful and comprehensive Support critical reflection on services systems and identify where small changes could lead to positive outcomes for children and families The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Maintain an understanding of Early Childhood governance related policies and guidance including Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics, United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child; the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011, and Early Years learning Framework and Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring early childhood staff. The ability to support early years educators and teachers in developing, documenting, implementing, evaluating and critical reflections of their selected SRF menu items. The ability to plan work and manage time effectively with minimal supervision. Ability to develop relationships and partnerships with early year educators and teachers to promote shared learning and collaboration and experience working with children and families in diverse communities. At least 5 years' experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher/Educational Leader in early childhood services Completion of DE certified coaching program (Effective Mentoring Training Program) or equivalent certified coaching/mentoring programs or currently enrolled in such programs with completion date by November 2026. Required Certifications & Qualifications: Qualifications suitable for a teacher under the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Department of Education and Training Victorian Kindergarten Funding Guide.
