CHILDCARE FIRST – JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner
Responsible to: Senior Early Years Practitioner, Deputy Manager, Nursery Manager
Main Functions:
To work with babies and young children through play based learning and development. To work as an effective member of a team to assist in the delivery of high-quality early learning & childcare for children and families.

Job Activities

• To advocate the importance of services pedagogical approach and principles.
• To contribute to the provision of a safe, caring, healthy, secure, pleasant and stimulating nursery environment in and outdoors for all.
• To communicate effectively with children, parents, staff and other professionals.
• To contribute to and implement a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance and pedagogy.
• To engage with children as leaders of their learning through responsive planning, recording of observations and evaluation within a play-based learning approach for all babies and young children.
• To maintain and record children’s assessment progress and complete transfer of information reports as required.
• To respond to and nurture the specific needs of babies & young children, to devise, support, monitor and review child’s plans as required, in collaboration with other agencies and staff.
• To liaise with and undertake joint work with relevant support agencies to meet the needs of children and their families.
• To promote parental engagement and provide support and advice as appropriate.
• To participate in parents’ evenings and open learning session.
• To demonstrate a commitment to continued professional learning and development in line with services pedagogical approach and Company policies i.e. twilight and in-service day training.
• To participate in the overall development of the nursery and be involved in the evaluation and development of planning for improvements within the service.
• To work with and supervise the training of students and to act as a professional role model.
• To make links between practice, theory and policy guidance to reinforce aspects of high-quality provision.
• To assist in the preparation and delivery of training workshops for staff as appropriate
• To contribute to the delivery of an effective service in line with establishment policies and procedures.
• To contribute to the review, preparation and development of Company policies
• To be responsible for a clean and hygienic environment and comply with Health and Safety regulations.
• To contribute to the organisation and management of resources.
• To comply with all Company policies, national guidance legislation relevant to the duties of the post.

To undertake any other tasks relevant to the duties of the post as delegated by the senior manager of establishment.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.60 per hour
