As a Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the backend services behind our products and actively contribute to their continuous development. You will work on both new features and the enhancement of existing systems – always with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Together with the Product team and your engineering colleagues, you will develop solutions that make a real difference for millions of users.
Your tasks at Gini
- You will develop, operate, and maintain backend services that form the foundation of our products.
- You will develop and expand APIs for our banking and insurance partners.
- You continuously improve existing systems and ensure that they remain reliable, scalable and easy to maintain.
- You will work closely with Product, Mobile, AI and other engineering teams to implement new features and technical improvements.
- You will contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the long-term development of our backend landscape.
- You automate development, testing, and deployment processes using modern CI/CD pipelines.
- You monitor our services, analyze problems, and continuously optimize performance and stability.
- You conduct code reviews, share your knowledge within the team, and support best practices in engineering.
- You realistically assess the effort required for new features and actively participate in technical planning and solution design.
- You stay up-to-date with technological advancements and contribute pragmatic ideas to continuously develop our systems.
Your profile for success
- You have at least five years of experience in the development, operation and further development of backend systems.
- You have very good knowledge of Java, the JVM ecosystem and Spring Boot.
- You have experience in the design and development of RESTful APIs and distributed microservice architectures.
- You are proficient in working with SQL databases; experience with Cassandra and/or Elasticsearch is a plus.
- You have already operated production systems with Docker and Kubernetes.
- You are familiar with Application Security, OAuth2 and Spring Security.
- Ideally, you have experience with asynchronous communication and messaging technologies such as AMQP.
- You think pragmatically, value clean code, maintainability and reliable software.
- You enjoy working in a team, sharing your knowledge and actively participating in technical discussions.
- You communicate confidently in English.
