Description:
EARTHWORKS FOREMAN QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum five (5) years Civil or Industrial Foreman, with experience in constructing Roadways/Subdivisions.
- In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines.
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
- Excellent organizational and leadership with the ability to communicate and report effectively.
- Must have extensive knowledge of “Urban” Subdivision grading or Industrial.
- Recognizes and understands the safe operation of heavy equipment and material handling.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be a team player.
- Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
- Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology degree/diploma considered an asset.
- The following training courses would be considered an asset: Leadership for Safety Excellence, Prime Contractor, CSTS-09, Ground Disturbance Level 2, H2S Awareness and WHMIS.

Responsibilities:
- Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
- Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of work crews and ensure the crew has all required tools for their work, including PPE and emergency response measures.
- Assess and confirm, through documentation, crew competency.
- Identify equipment and labor resource requirements for task and their utilization.
- Adhere to project and company environmental considerations.
- Complete daily activity reports/daily logs.
- Work with project management to schedule and coordinate work tasks.
- Coordinate with other Foremen of subcontractors as required on the jobsite.
- Coordinate with shallow utility locaters when on the jobsite and ensure the crew clearly understands where all buried utilities are.
- Submit progress reports to ensure that the project is on track with deadlines that have been set out in the contract. Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments and mentorship with crew.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards.
- Conduct incident investigations and prepare associated support documentation immediately.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
