Job Title: Practice Coordinator
General Summary: A non-exempt medical office position responsible for coordinating and managing all processes of the front office.

KNOWLEDGE:

1. Knowledge of insurance verification process.
2. Understanding of documentation required for physician appointments.
3. Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems.
4. Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
5. Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures sufficient to provide effective patient care.
6. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid policies, regulations, and incentive programs.

1. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the physician practice.
2. Adheres to HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
3. Demonstrates support for the Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures that affect specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
4. Greets patients entering the physician practice.
5. Answers office phones and makes appointments.
6. Checks in patients, collects accurate patient demographics, enters data into electronic system, and verifies insurance.
7. Assists in checking out patients and helps them with referral processing and scheduling.
8. Collects co-pays and posts charges.
9. Manages physician surgical schedule as well as other business-related appointments and performs other basic office-related tasks.
10. Coordinates the daily operations of the physician office, including the medical records process, patient and physician scheduling, controlling the front desk, accounts payable, confirming appointments, office supplies, and insurance verification.
11. Enters charges and processes patient balances.
12. Monitors and audits cash/payment funds.
13. Reconciles charges and payments daily.
14. Performs additional responsibilities as needed.
    Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion of a medical office assistant program preferred.
    Certification: Prefer healthcare management/administration certification.
    Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a medical office setting.
