Description
We are seeking an Electron Beam SME to strengthen our maintenance, reliability, and engineering project capabilities across Sterigenics facilities in Denmark, Shanghai, and Thailand. This role is crucial in ensuring high equipment uptime, supporting equipment upgrades, and driving continuous improvement in e-beam sterilization operations. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Reliability: • Monitor and optimize the performance of our existing electron beam accelerators and ancillary equipment. Improve as needed the existing equipment and manage the replacement of obsolete equipment. • In case of problems, lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electron beam systems and supporting infrastructure. • Optimize and execute preventive maintenance (PM) programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifetime. • Support corrective maintenance and emergency repair activities to ensure operational continuity. • Conduct equipment audits and risk assessments to ensure reliability, safe operation, and operational compliance. • Maintain and enhance usage of our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for accurate storing, tracking, planning, and reporting of all maintenance activities and relevant maintenance information. Project Engineering: • Support and lead engineering projects related to equipment upgrades, replacements, and process improvements. • Collaborate with site teams to scope, plan, and implement technical solutions. • Evaluate emerging technologies in electron beam applications and related technologies that can bring additional operational benefits. • Provide input and guidance into capital planning, asset lifecycle planning strategies, and management of obsolescence risks. Technical Support & Compliance: • Function as the regional SME for electron beam sterilization systems, dosimetry, and process parameters. • Ensure alignment with international and local standards (e.g., ISO 11137). • Support documentation, validation, and audit readiness activities. • Facilitate technical training and best practice sharing across sites. Qualifications and skills: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field. • Proven experience in high-power high-frequency electrical engineering, preferably in an equipment maintenance and reliability environment. Having specific technical knowledge on electron beam technology, or sterilization technology, is a plus. • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. • Able to work in an international environment, to collaborate with regional teams, and to possess solid communication skills. • Experienced in working with adjacent technologies, various electro-mechanical systems (HVAC, fluid distribution, chillers, conveyors) and automation systems (PLC, SCADA, electrical control gear). • Experienced in working in a highly regulated environment for safety and quality. • Experience with computerized tools such as CMMS, CAD, or other engineering software. • Able to communicate fluently in English in an international setting. Additional language skills (Danish, Chinese, Thai) are a plus but not required. Travel: Expected to travel internationally when required, primarily Europe and Asia, typically for supervising and supporting planned and unplanned maintenance and repair activities, for site inspections, and project execution activities.
Responsibilities
The Ebeam Engineer will monitor and optimize the performance of electron beam accelerators, lead troubleshooting efforts, and support maintenance activities. Additionally, they will manage engineering projects related to equipment upgrades and ensure compliance with international standards.
