Responsibilities The Emergency Care Center (ECC) Director is responsible for maintaining the efficient functioning of designated nursing units on a twenty-four hour basis. The ECC Director is responsible for initiating, guiding, and directing the coordination of services provided by the designated nursing unit(s). Functions as a resource person for supervisory staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of nursing staff. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by specified units. Makes decisions regarding patient care activities in area of responsibility. The ECC Director is responsible for the oversight of the departmental budget and management of staff. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, education and training. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years nursing practice with emphasis on leadership and management experience. Minimum of 3 years nursing management, preferably in a critical care or emergency center setting. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse. American Heart Association BLS required. Advance Cardiac Life Support, PALS or ENPC within 6 months of employment. TNCC within 18 months of hire and must remain current in these certifications. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated leadership ability and critical thinking skills required. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills; computer skills; basic finance knowledge and basic typing skills.
