Job Summary
Reporting to the ECE Floor Supervisor and/or Childhood Manager, the Headstart Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) will support the delivery of high-quality, culturally rooted early childhood education to children ages 0–6 through the 3–5 and Multiage Programs. Working under the direction of ECE staff, this role promotes the physical, emotional, intellectual, creative, and social development of children in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. The ECEA will also assist in implementing the six core components of the Aboriginal Head Start On-Reserve (AHSOR) program and contribute to cultural activities in collaboration with Elders, families, and community members.
Responsibilities and Duties

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate (mandatory)
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in childcare or early childhood education settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated reliability, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professional conduct at all times.
  • Current immunizations, in accordance with public health requirements.
  • Valid and current certifications, including:
  • Emergency Childcare First Aid & CPR (Level B)
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • WHIMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (asset, but not requirement)
  • Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Section Check required.
