OVERVIEW

Ecotone Landscape Planning’s work environment consists of a small, highly collaborative team. ELP’s teamwork style is casual and personal. ELP works with many outside entities through subcontracts or cooperative agreements (“partnerships”). Assignments and work pace are dynamic and variable. Each coworker is both a team worker and highly self-directed. The office environment consists of one shared office space and tele-commuting. Seasonally, approximately half of the work is outdoors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

As a candidate for this position, you bring to the ELP team:

  • A deep interest in landscape-scale planning
  • A willingness to learn
  • A teamwork attitude while also being a self-directed improviser and problem solver
  • An ability to negotiate several tasks and deadlines
  • A high sensitivity to community dynamics and ability to respectfully and diplomatically handle cultural characteristics of communities and individual clients
  • Good communication skills and networking skills
  • Technical and creative writing skills
  • Affinity with forest ecology, water conservation, soil health, and erosion control theory and practice
  • Affinity or experience with process planning approaches for ecological restoration initiatives at a landscape scale
  • Experience with field sampling, analysis, and management planning for forest, woodland, wetland, or rangeland ecosystems and a baseline familiarity with GIS
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a natural resource management field
  • At least three years of working experience in a natural resource stewardship field
  • Physically capable of doing full day field work in rough outdoor conditions
  • A vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Your own business liability insurance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with planning methodologies for forest and/or watershed planning
  • Technical data gathering skills or affinity
  • GIS certification
  • Experience with Google and Microsoft software
  • Affinity with instructing and managing contractors and crew, including youth crews
  • Experience with proposal writing and an affinity with budgets and financial (project) management
  • A graduate degree in a natural resource management field
  • Contributing to a reflection of New Mexico’s demographic diversity in the ELP team
    Job Type: Part-time
    Pay: $39,600.00 - $52,800.00 per year
    Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
