Maxwood Furniture, a privately owned, design-driven furniture company with revenues exceeding $140M, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to drive operational excellence, consumer centric thinking, and enable speed and accuracy throughout our owned and 3rd party fulfilment networks with a keen focus on cost management and efficiency. Managing people and structuring and connecting teams is a key priority. Key Highlights Privately-Owned, Fast-Growing D2C Brand Join a multi-channel e-commerce furniture business as we accelerate our next stage of growth. The ideal COO thrives in entrepreneurial, action-oriented environments and brings a strong mix of e-commerce systems experience, financial discipline, e-commerce centric supply chain (drop ship, speed of fulfilment) expertise, and people leadership. Supply Chain, Logistics & Inventory Oversee internal and external North American warehouses, trucking and importation. Oversee inventory planning, purchasing, vendor relationships and execution. Build scalable systems to improve efficiency, protect margins, and maintain high service levels. Deep E-Commerce & and particularly D2C Expertise Lead operations for a high-growth e-commerce business spanning multiple D2C websites and major marketplaces (Amazon and others). Partner cross-functionally to support customer acquisition, digital marketing, and seamless fulfillment. Servant Leadership & Team Alignment Inspire and grow a high-performing team across operations, logistics, purchasing, and customer service. Foster collaboration, communication, and accountability while leading with a hands-on, servant-leader approach. Financial & Operational Leadership Align operational execution with company strategy to drive profitability and sustainable growth. Provide strong financial oversight with accountability for disciplined cost management. Customer Service & Global Partnerships Oversee customer service execution and strategy, including management of overseas agents and outsourced providers. Act as a key connector across internal teams, suppliers, vendors and service partners. Requirements 15–20 years of business experience, with at least 10 years in senior operational and/or financial leadership roles. Extensive e-commerce background, spanning both D2C websites and marketplace businesses. Hands-on experience with warehousing, logistics, importation, inventory planning, and purchasing. Strong financial acumen with a proven track record overseeing budgets, P&L, and profitability in growth-oriented environments. Proven people leadership skills with ability to scale organizations and build strong culture. Experience leading customer service, including outsourced and offshore providers.
