Through strengths-based coaching, data-informed goal setting, and accountability, the coach supports participants in advancing across key domains of economic stability including employment, income, housing, financial capability, education, and well-being. Unlike traditional case management, this role focuses on participant-driven goals, executive functioning skill development, and long-term economic mobility. The Economic Mobility Coach serves as a guide, accountability partner, and advocate - helping participants identify barriers, access resources, and build the skills and confidence necessary to achieve lasting self-sufficiency. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, education, public administration, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Bilingual English/Spanish Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals or families experiencing economic hardship in roles such as case management, coaching, workforce development, or social services. Demonstrated ability to support individuals in setting and achieving personal or professional goals. Experience working with diverse populations in a community-based or nonprofit setting. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly. Preferred Qualifications Experience using the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework or other mobility-focused coaching models. Training or certification in motivational interviewing, coaching, or executive functioning development. Experience in workforce development, financial capability, housing stability programs, or education pathways. Experience using data-driven coaching tools or participant progress tracking systems. Knowledge of community resources related to employment, housing, healthcare, and financial stability. Major Responsibilities and Duties Participant Coaching and Mobility Planning Provide one-on-one mobility coaching using the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework to support participants in setting and achieving long-term economic mobility goals. Facilitate structured coaching conversations that focus on strengths, motivation, and executive functioning skill development. Collaborate with participants to develop individualized Economic Mobility Plans with measurable milestones across mobility domains. Monitor participant progress using mobility metrics and data tools associated with the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework. Help participants identify barriers to mobility and develop actionable strategies to overcome them. Resource Navigation and Coordination Connect participants with appropriate internal and external resources including employment services, education programs, housing assistance, healthcare access, and financial capability services. Maintain working knowledge of community resources and referral pathways. Collaborate with internal program teams and community partners to ensure coordinated service delivery. Data Tracking and Outcome Measurement Maintain accurate participant records and progress updates in designated case management systems. Track participant outcomes related to employment, income, education, housing stability, and financial capability. Use data to guide coaching conversations and identify opportunities for program improvement. Participant Engagement and Retention Build trusting, respectful relationships with participants that promote accountability and sustained engagement. Encourage consistent participation through follow-up, goal reinforcement, and celebration of progress. Support participants in developing confidence, resilience, and decision-making skills. Program Collaboration Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development related to the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework. Contribute insights to improve program strategies and participant outcomes. Support outreach or recruitment efforts when appropriate. Compliance and Documentation Ensure participant documentation meets program, funding, and regulatory requirements. Protect participant confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies and ethical standards. Program Context Mentoring typically involves longer-term relationships, often spanning several years, to ensure sustainable mobility. Mentors focus on measurable gains, such as increased Bridge scores, employment at family-sustaining wages, and long-term residential stability. Key Skills and Competencies Understanding of economic mobility, poverty dynamics, and barriers to self-sufficiency. Knowledge of or ability to learn the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework. Strong coaching and motivational interviewing skills. Ability to build trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Strong problem-solving and goal-setting facilitation skills. Ability to support participants in developing executive functioning skills such as planning, prioritization, and decision-making. Cultural humility and trauma-informed communication skills. Ability to navigate complex issues with sound reasoning while maintaining a trauma-informed and trust-centered orientation. Capability to help participants strategize around potential barriers and think through options for additional resources. Effectiveness in communicating with diverse audiences, from participants to external stakeholders and program partners. Ability to maintain professional boundaries while demonstrating empathy and support. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency with case management software and basic data tracking tools. Expected Outcomes: First 6-12 Months First 90 Days – Learning and Relationship Building Complete training in the EMPath Mobility Modeling® framework and Metrocrest Services program processes. Develop strong working relationships with program staff, community partners, and support services. Build a caseload of participants and begin establishing trust-based coaching relationships. Demonstrate ability to conduct structured coaching conversations that focus on strengths, goal setting, and accountability. Accurately document participant interactions and progress in the program’s data system. 3–6 Months – Effective Coaching and Participant Progress Maintain consistent coaching engagement with assigned participants. Support participants in developing clear mobility goals and individualized action plans. Help participants identify and overcome barriers related to employment, income stability, education, housing, or financial capability. Demonstrate effective use of EMPath Mobility Modeling® tools to measure progress across mobility domains. Achieve strong participant engagement and retention within the program. 6–12 Months – Effective Coaching and Participant Progress Participants demonstrate tangible progress toward economic stability, such as: Increased or more stable employment Advancement in education or workforce training Improved financial capability or savings Greater housing stability Maintain high-quality coaching relationships that empower participants to take ownership of their goals. Contribute insights and feedback to improve program practices and participant outcomes. Demonstrate strong collaboration with internal teams and community partners to support participant success. Consistently maintain accurate data tracking and documentation aligned with program and funding requirements. Work Environment The activity for this position requires the employee to work onsite and at times, in the community. Ability to move, transport, position, and lift up to 15 pounds as needed. Ability to remain in a stationary position such as standing or sitting for up to 8 hours per day. Ability to walk, move, and/or traverse as needed. Reporting Relationship The Economic Mobility Coach reports directly to the Manager of Economic Mobility. Pay Range Salary commensurate with qualifications.
