Description Full-Time (36 hours per week) Provides emergency patient care, supervises other licensed or certified personnel, and supervises pre-hospital personnel. The staff nurse functions within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act of North Carolina Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list): Rapidly and accurately assess the patient’s needs and establish priorities of care Prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to facilitate patient care. Review patient medical and social history. Determine appropriate nursing actions to achieve positive patient outcomes. Evaluate course of action in a timely manner to ascertain effectiveness of nursing interventions Promptly recognize and report clinical problems, changes in condition, or adverse reactions to the Emergency Department physician Elevate concerns to charge nurse, Assistant nurse manager, or Director as appropriate, reporting problems through the chain of command Demonstrate teamwork, problem solving skills, critical thinking, time management, and appropriate clinical prioritization Requirements Education: • Graduate of an approved school of nursing • Current licensure in the state of North Carolina or Compact State as a Registered Professional Nurse • BLS certification • ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire • PALS certification required within 6 months of hire • Preferred two (2) years Med/Surg, ER, or ICU experience
