Job Summary: Assists in providing direct, and in-direct patient care under direction of appropriate personnel or leadership(e.g registered nurses or providers). Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation. Acts as a clinical resource for students, those being oriented and volunteers. Performs within the level of their scope of practice. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Three years' full time experience in a 911 system: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Advanced Emergency Medical Training (AEMT) or Intermediate EMT certification (EMT-Int) or Paramedic license (EMT-P) in state of practice: Required (National Registry Preferred) AHA Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Healthcare Provider or equivalent: Required AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Preferred in CA and OR National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent: Required in CA California DMV Medical Examiner (DMVME) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC): Required in CA Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older: Required AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQIACLS) certification or equivalent: Required within 6 months for CA and within 90 days for OR EMT-ADV OR EMT-Int OR PM: Required Essential Functions: Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation. Performs skin punctures and venipunctures within scope of practice. Collects, records and communicates basic patient data, current and changing status. Performs electrocardiograms (ECG, EKG). Assists in cast or splint applications, assists nurse or physician with lavaging overdoses, tests patients' visual acuity, and makes proper crutch adjustments as needed. Cleans, inspects, assembles and sterilizes trays and equipment in accordance with established departmental procedures. Takes immediate and appropriate action upon occurrence of emergency situation within job description and policies. Participates in continuing/advanced education which demonstrates employee commitment to improving capabilities. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
