Description To test steel hammers to determine their hardness value using testing equipment. Essential Functions: Performs calibration on eddy current transducer equipment for tools to be tested. Positions hammer in fixture on eddy current transducer and reads if the hardness is within specifications for quality. Performs Rockwell hardness testing on selected samples as required. Reports all non-conforming tools and equipment problems to Foreman and/or Quality Manager. Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: One (1) to three (3) months of related experience or on-the-job training. Physical: Must be able to stand at equipment for 8 hours or more per day Must be able to use both hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to frequently lift 25 pounds and move up to 100 pounds. Must have close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus on work. Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands. Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection. Mental: Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions. Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Technical: Must have mechanical aptitude for setting up equipment.
