Business Unit/Department: Engineering Services Location: Lawrence, PA Job Summary: We are looking for a passionate AI Engineering Intern to help us bridge the gap between complex industrial data and actionable intelligence. This summer, you won't just be writing code; you will be building an "Agentic Librarian" and deploying fault detecting real-time vision models to the edge. You will work at the intersection of Computer Vision (CV) and Natural Language Processing (NLP), deploying models onto the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin platform and cloud platforms to solve real-world problems for our sales and engineering team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Investigate and test high-accuracy vision model training using Roboflow and YOLO to automate the detection of equipment defects and the analysis of industrial documentation. Develop and refine "agentic" workflows and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems to unify data across disparate repositories and enable rapid data extraction. Learn to manage and deploy AI applications within the Ubuntu/Jetpack ecosystem, utilizing Docker to optimize performance on GPU-accelerated hardware like the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin. Conduct rigorous testing of AI applications to identify shortcomings and ensure reliability prior to the adoption phase. Assist in authoring comprehensive Operational Procedures and training documentation to ensure consistent and clear adoption of AI tools by employees. Partner with Service, Software, and Electrical Engineers to translate field requirements into technical features while maintaining hardware and system integrity. Prioritize AI application efforts on tasks that are data-driven or time-consuming to drive maximum efficiency for ECI. Assist the Project Lead in compiling Viability Reports that describe the specific applications of AI, their risks, and their projected impact on quality and efficiency. Complete ECI-funded certifications, including Google Prompting Essentials and NVIDIA virtual AI courses, to support project technical requirements. Requirements Ideal Candidate: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, AI, Robotics, Data Science, or a related technical field. Must have a strong desire to learn technologies such as Ubuntu, ROBOFLOW, CNNs, Computer Vision models in a hands-on environment Interest in AI computer hardware, edge computing, and software Must have excellent communication skills and ability to interface with internal stakeholders Must have the ability to do regional travel (PA,OH,WV) day trips Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, overhead reaching, climbing, stooping, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds; work in varying temperatures; and drive for extended periods or distances Prior experience working with the Jetson platform preferred Prior experience working with ROBOFLOW, CNNs, Computer Vision models preferred Core Competencies: WORK COLLABORATIVELY - Promote an inclusive and positive work environment that encourages collaboration and team building across all levels of the organization.
