Reports to: Managing Editor, Regional Head of Americas The Opportunity CoinDesk is seeking an experienced and dynamic Editor to support its editorial coverage of the crypto industry in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist with a deep understanding of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and the unique market dynamics of the APAC region, including key hubs like Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo. This is an impactful role that will help shape the quality and voice of our regional coverage, ensuring CoinDesk remains the most trusted source of news and information for the global crypto economy. The Asia Editor will partner closely with the Asia Regional News Head to mentor reporters, produce their own copy in line with editorial strategy, and ensure all content meets CoinDesk's high standards for accuracy, clarity, and journalistic integrity. You will work to break exclusive stories, identify emerging trends, and provide insightful analysis on a wide range of topics, from regulatory developments and institutional adoption to DeFi, NFTs, and local market trends. What You’ll Do: Editorial Strategy: Work with the Asia Regional News Head to shape the editorial agenda and strategy for APAC coverage. Monitor the daily news flow, including breaking news, market analysis, and feature stories. Quality Control: Ensure all published content is fact-checked, accurate, and adheres to CoinDesk's editorial and ethical standards. Team Mentorship: Mentor, and train reporters. Provide constructive feedback, edit copy for style and substance, and foster a collaborative and high-performance environment. Content Strategy: Execute against a content plan that aligns with CoinDesk's global editorial vision while catering to the specific interests and needs of the APAC audience. Identify new content opportunities and formats. Sourcing and Reporting: Cultivate a strong network of sources within the APAC crypto ecosystem, including startups, investors, regulators, and prominent figures. Be prepared to write and report on key stories as needed. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other CoinDesk teams, including global news desks, research, and events, to coordinate coverage and promote a cohesive brand presence. Audience Engagement: Monitor audience metrics and social media trends to inform editorial decisions and optimize content for maximum reach and impact. Other duties as assigned What You Have: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in journalism or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years as an editor. Proven expertise in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and financial markets. Deep knowledge of the APAC crypto landscape, including a solid network of contacts in the region. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work on tight deadlines. Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively work as part of a globally distributed newsroom. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other regional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean) is a plus. Experience with a digital-first newsroom and familiarity with SEO best practices and data analytics is highly desirable.
