ENR Editor, Texas & Southeast - This position is remote, but preference given to candidates in a major Texas or Southeast metro area
Engineering News-Record (ENR), the leading source of news and data for the construction industry—now in its 151st year of publication—is looking for a journalist to report on news in the Texas and Southeast region. In addition to keeping readers informed with thoughtful reporting and editing, your job will involve collaborating with other staff on coverage of breaking news and current events, newsletter preparation, regular social media posts and organizing and hosting live events.
You would work in a dynamic and collegial environment and be challenged to do your best reporting and writing as a member of our award-winning staff. We see our role as analyzing the triumphs, travails, markets and the management strategies of the entities that build infrastructure and buildings of all kinds in the U.S. and abroad. The successful candidate will be able to quickly assemble compelling and factual news stories on the important news stories of the day as well as produce interesting project features and company profiles. You should be able to initiate story ideas, adhere to deadlines and multi-task on multiple stories at once, while helping industry professionals be effective in their work and enable their employers to gain a competitive edge.
Experience should include at least three years of interviewing sources, reporting and writing news or working on the staff of a daily newspaper, website, consumer magazine or B2B publication. Top candidates will be self-starters able to work full time from either a home office or office setting. They should possess a positive attitude and a passion for news, trends and analysis. Ability to speak in public—to moderate webinars or host live events—is required.
Candidates must demonstrate good news judgment as well as the ability to collaborate efficiently in a team environment under deadline pressure using multiple platforms.
An understanding of construction, engineering, technology or business management is preferred but not required.
