Description

Vanguard’s Workplace Solutions Marketing department creates great content that connects with 401(k) prospects, clients, and consultants when they want to start, deepen, or maintain a relationship with Vanguard. We help our business partners in the Workplace Solutions division tell compelling stories about our retirement plan capabilities, including recordkeeping, investments, and advice.

Reporting to the head of Workplace Solutions Marketing’s editorial team, this editorial manager leads a team of writers who produce:

  • Sales and marketing materials to help our B2B client-facing teams re-win existing retirement-plan clients’ business.
  • Advertising and other content that supports our market-leading TDF position and grow interest in our active fixed income products.
  • Articles, videos, and event-related scripts to inform our audiences and drive consideration of our expanding retirement income offerings.

Responsible for excellence in Performance Marketing materials across Workplace Solutions, this leader will drive the development of storytelling that differentiates Vanguard from its competitors and inspires our audiences to take action. In addition, they will hold responsibilities as a Registered Principal Responsible to ensure our processes remain in compliance. Finally, they will apply their superior writing skills in support of key Workplace Solutions and Marketing initiatives and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five years related work experience. Background in editing preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC). These will be determined by Compliance based on role-specific duties.
  • Financial marketing strategy or writing experience preferred.
    This role is part of our hybrid work model with Tuesdays – Thursdays required in our offices to foster collaboration and relationships. On Mondays and Fridays, our crew will have the option to work remotely, or continue working from our offices in Malvern PA.
Responsibilities
  • Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew. Provide guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Set priorities to balance workload and adjust resources as necessary. Set strategy and positioning for copy and team processes. Create new approaches or processes with enhanced quality and efficiency for the near-term. Manage multiple projects efficiently. Identify, evaluate, and resolve complex issues.
  • Consult with leaders and subject matter experts regularly on communications and content strategies. Apply advanced subject matter expertise to pitch new ideas and find creative ways to tell Vanguard’s story.
  • Lead department quality initiatives and support quality dashboard metrics. Analyze data and develop process improvements.
  • Maintain and relay in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of various industries and of Vanguard products, processes, and/or services.
  • Serve as mentor to less experienced writers and/or editors by providing specific feedback on their copy, story ideas, new media formatting, and interviewing skills.
  • Provide editorial direction and guidance across mediums by working closely and collaboratively with designers, developers, product owners, and business leaders.
  • Act as an editor for high-profile or rush content.
  • Partner with other marketing leaders to establish and maintain consistency in editorial practices across Vanguard.
  • Manage business processes and functions to ensure business objectives are met while ensuring it’s done in compliance with SEC and FINRA rules and regulations. Achieve compliant quality performance levels.
  • Act as Registered Principal Responsible and works with delegates to lead, develop, and implement ongoing management and oversight of the various departments. Work collaboratively with the business leaders to implement changes to the business process to close gaps identified through the oversight process. Collaborates with the business leaders and delegates to review applicable current and future regulatory requirements in order to ensure effective Written Supervisory Procedures (WSPs) are in place.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
