  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in engineering consulting preferred with civil background
  • Demonstrated technical capability across your area of technical expertise, including all project phases from project planning to detailed design and construction services
  • Effective & proven project delivery, networking, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to develop lasting internal and external relationships based on trust and delivery excellence
  • Proven background in delivering projects from proposal to completion in a design hub operation
  • Proven background of managing multi-disciplined design delivery organizations
  • Detailed knowledge of several types of delivery methods for various markets

Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of design project execution in the Ontario Design Hub. Provide support to the EDO BGL and other EMs and set delivery priorities, as necessary, to ensure the appropriate amount of technical and project delivery leadership is in place on projects being executed in the design hub in accordance with the Regional strategic plan.
  • Ensure that projects are bid using appropriate EDO staff to develop scopes and LOE components of the bid.
  • Ensure that design packages that are to be executed are properly scoped and budgeted and that they have endorsed Workplans and follow our Quality Management Systems.
  • Needs Assessment: Engage with senior business leaders to understand long-term strategic challenges.
  • Support work-sharing planning between all EDO Regions
  • Support Chile work-sharing and maintain and grow Direct Workshare staff supporting the design hub.
  • Improvement/Innovation: Initiate, formulate, and implement new business practices within a specific discipline while managing the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the organization’s change management program.
  • Be an advocate and assist in making the EDO platform meet expectations and be accountable in meeting project as-bid metrics.
  • Culture of Innovation: Define the execution plan to disseminate innovative capabilities across the businesses, helping people develop these competencies and enabling them to innovate through solutions such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Lead the design of complex and/or innovative engineering solutions and the associated validation processes for a business-critical area of engineering to enable the realization of engineering design briefs that conform to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
  • Engineering Standards Specification: Provide leadership on the design and development of engineering standards and specifications for a business-critical area that must be adhered to by the organization and/or its suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure engineering work of the required quality is delivered and to manage the risks associated with engineering programs.
  • Knowledge Management: Manage the development of policies and processes for knowledge management to ensure the creation of best practices and the setup of case studies and internal knowledge-sharing sessions; manage, capture, and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices across a large area to support the practice.
  • Technical Developments Recommendation: Lead the discussion and recommendation of more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/application software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
  • Professional Supervision: Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to ensure that there is effective professional supervision that supports practitioners’ professional development and embeds reflective practice.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct the most-complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
  • Project Management: Manage a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy.
  • Ensure that the delivery of projects in the design hub portfolio result in:

  • Support the EDO BGL in managing the Ontario regional EDO to meet annual financial, operational, and strategic metrics as a part of the overall success of the Business and the Enterprise.
  • Contribute to building the HSE and Quality culture within the Design Hub and EDO BG. Assist the EDO BGL in workforce planning (includes Resource Planning Tool review). Contribute to succession planning, building staff capabilities in technical and leadership areas across the Region. Asist with hiring and support Talent Acquisition to ensure we hire the staff with the necessary skills. Ensure internal and external education and training is carried out in the Design Hub.
  • Travel to and connect with the EDO staff in Design Hub offices within the Region to ensure leadership visibility and communications are maintained.
