Description
As an EDS Connector Design and Release Engineer, you will be empowered to own and influence the entire component lifecycle. You will: Lead the design and release of high voltage and low voltage connectors to meet all specified requirements. Collaborate and interface with the EDS team and module teams on design assumptions and integration. Apply robust design disciplines, including Boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, Robustness Checklists (RCL), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Form (SCCAF), and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R). Ensure all connector designs comply with Ford, USCAR, IEC, and GB/T standards. Actively participate in component design reviews at key program milestones. Sign off on component designs, ensuring they meet Quality, Cost, Weight, and Functional Targets. Resolve Design Verification (DV) failures, developing root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and preventative actions. Identify and develop Total Value Management (TVM) actions to optimize value. Work closely with purchasing to align with and execute sourcing strategies. Utilize best design practices for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance. Drive commonality of designs across multiple vehicle programs and platforms. Complete Technical Design Reviews with relevant Technical Leads. Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Mechanical Engineering (ME) or related field of study 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Design and Release (D&R) role. Proven outstanding D&R engineering discipline. Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with 8D and 5D methodologies. A high degree of personal motivation.
