Job Title: Education and Brand Ambassador: Propeller Coffee Co. x Breville

OUR VALUES

Community: We care deeply about the people we work with, the industry we work in, and the communities we live in, source from, and impact.
Quality: Propeller only buys from the most experienced, sustainable and knowledgeable farmers because they produce the highest quality specialty beans. We dedicate a tremendous amount of time and energy to making sure every batch of coffee we roast meets or exceeds the standards we’re looking for.
Sustainability: We try our hardest to make our coffee the most sustainable it can possibly be. In building our direct trade relationships we care about how our farmers grow and process their coffees and engage in their communities.
At home in our roastery, we take great care to store and roast our beans in what we believe is Canada’s most energy efficient and lowest footprint roastery. Roasting and serving great coffee is important, but it shouldn’t tax our environment.

  • Self-motivated with reliable transportation and a smart device (data + GPS).

  • Genuine passion for coffee and enthusiasm for sharing it with others
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and comfortable using technology

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re seeking a passionate, energetic individual with a strong background in coffee and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge.
As part of our team on this contract, you will help create memorable customer experiences in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment for both Propeller Coffee and our partner Breville.

THE ROLE HAS TWO DISTINCT ELEMENTS:

  • We work closely with Breville as their roaster partner in the GTA to showcase their coffee equipment and to train customers in how to make cafe quality coffee at home.
  • As the Propeller Coffee Co. representative supporting Breville customer events, you will be working in Breville retail locations (called Shop-in-Shops) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (15 -20 hours total)
  • During these sessions, you will provide a coffee Masterclass, following a template established by Breville and Propeller—introducing customers to, and demonstrating, the functions of Breville espresso machines.
  • As a representative of Propeller Coffee Co., you will also be presenting the Propeller brand during these Masterclass sessions, as well as showcasing our coffees on Breville machines.
  • You will be responsible for working alongside the Propeller management team to schedule and execute this programming with Breville - to include scheduling and supporting other baristas for Masterclass sessions.

The typical Masterclass covers:

  • Espresso extraction and coffee 101
  • Milk texturing and basic latte art
  • Machine care and cleaning
  • Question and answer period
