Description Background: Take Control Initiative (TCI) works to remove barriers and increase access to birth control in Tulsa County. We work collaboratively with over 200 community partners, 20+ health center sites and several state and national organizations. TCI operates at the intersection of health and education with the underlying belief that individuals will make the best decisions for themselves when equipped with information and resources. Our team consists of Education/Outreach, Clinical Services, and Data/Policy departments. We utilize collective impact and grassroots organizing principles, while recognizing transformational impact requires action at individual, relational, and system levels. TCI’s organizational core values are Equity, Access & Innovation. Position Summary: Intern will support the education and outreach (E&O) department at TCI with various projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assist E&O staff with event planning and day-of logistical support for community-based pop-up events. Support with inventory management and delivery of sexual health kits to Tulsa-area community partners. Represent TCI at outreach events by engaging with the community and sharing information about available services. Conduct outreach to local businesses to identify new sexual health kit distribution sites in Tulsa. Research and create a lesson plan designed to share information with adults on the intersection of substance use and birth control. Organize and lead a focus group to gather feedback and actionable recommendations for increasing event engagement within the 19-24 age group. Other duties as assigned. Experience and Education: Currently a college student working towards completing a Bachelor’s degree. A team player with insatiable curiosity, fiercely collaborative, and comfortable working in ambiguity. Strong time-management and organizational skills. Able to juggle multiple projects and tasks with efficiency and a positive attitude. Possess high growth potential with a willingness to learn and grow. Ability to build relationships and create alignment with staff and individuals from a wide range of perspectives. Ability to multitask across multiple program platforms. Ability to project plan, track tasks, assess progress, and follow through on the execution of plans. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite. Spanish language skills preferred. Hours & Location This position is in-person and expected to work up to 20 hours per week (M-F, 8a-5p). The work week will occasionally vary with advance notice, depending on scheduled programming and other events; may require evening or weekend hours for special events.

Responsibilities

The intern will support the education and outreach department through event planning, community engagement, and the distribution of sexual health kits. Additionally, they will conduct research to create lesson plans and lead focus groups to improve engagement with young adults.
