Position Overview: Education and Outreach Manager
Reporting to the Program Director, the Education and Outreach Manager plans, develops, and facilitates LGBTQ+ Cultural Awareness Training to service providers and organizations across Staten Island. This position cultivates and maintains relationships with community members and organizational partners through community outreach activities on behalf of the Pride Center of Staten Island. They will review outreach strategies and educational approaches on an ongoing basis. The Education and Outreach Manager will inform the Program Director of all issues and accomplishments.
This is a full-time non-exempt position (40 hours/week).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong commitment to the Pride Center of Staten Island’s mission, values, and goals.
  • Experience conveying information to large groups in in-person and/or virtual settings.
  • Knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community’s political/civil, health, and social needs.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, public speaking, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse population, including ethnic, cultural, and sexual minorities with a welcoming, affirming, and harm-reduction approach.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a collegial work environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation needed.
Responsibilities
  • In consultation with the Program and Deputy Directors, develop Cultural Awareness trainings and workshops adaptable to various audiences with special attention to local health and social service providers.
  • Facilitate at least 100 LGBTQ+ Cultural Awareness presentations per year.
  • Outreach to local business and service providers and provide information about the Pride Center to help connect them to the programs and services of the Center.
  • Coordinate with each training site, tailoring the training or workshops to meet their needs.
  • Maintain attendance records and prepare reports for all training activities.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of a community outreach plan. In consultation with the Program Director, conduct community outreach through trainings, tabling events, and other opportunities that will increase the visibility of and participation in Pride Center of Staten Island programs and services.
  • Attend weekly supervision and monthly staff meetings as assigned.
  • Assist with other Pride Center programs, services, and events as needed.
