Description Kennelwood Pet Resorts is looking for an Education Department Assistant to be a part of a growing industry leader pet care business. The Education Department Assistant is important to ensuring safety for children and adults who attend camps, Girl Scout educational programs, Pet CPR and First Aid classes, marketing events to promote Kennelwood’s educational offerings, or any other program put forth by the education department that requires assistance. It is possible the Education Department Assistant may also assist from time to time with employee education classes. This is primarily a part-time summer seasonal position but may have a few events scattered throughout the rest of the year that would be optional work opportunities for the candidate. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Report and remedy, when appropriate, any safety concerns regarding people, pets, or the facility Assist with ensuring rules for pick-up and drop-off of children are completely adhered to Assist kids with maintaining safety during pet handling, crafts, outdoor or break time play, snack times, and interaction with each other Ensure hallway and facility rules are followed to prevent unplanned interaction with pets visiting our facility Assist with snack time to ensure appropriate portions for attendees and consideration for those with food allergies Help ensure any allergies, especially peanut allergies, are constantly considered when handling pet treat ingredients or human snack items Help ensure any child medications are properly stored and the child reminded to take the medication at the appropriate times Adhere to our photography polices and procedure regarding not posting photos to any personal accounts of the facility, pets, or people in attendance. Photos may be shared with our marketing department. When sharing photos internally, be sure to respect guardian wishes to not have individual children photographed and/or posted on social media Set up area for attendees and clean up after the event Provide attendees with ingredients or supplies for crafts, dog treat making, and projects What's in it for you? Requirements Qualifications: Must pass a background check through the Girl Scouts to participate in community education and children’s programming Must be available for all 5 weeks of 2025 summer camp sessions Good communication skills (grammar, voice and diction) self-motivated and takes initiative Able to organize and manage multiple priorities Dedication to human and pet safety at all times Passion for the health and welfare of animals, with genuine compassion Preferred: Human CPR and First Aid certification
