THE POSITION?

  • Be an advocate for students and their needs.
  • Uphold strict privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with teachers, staff, students and parents.
  • Collaborate with teachers to facilitate the participation of all students in classroom activities.
  • Provide support to the student individually (1:1) or in small groups.
  • Assist in adapting situations, environment, materials and activities so the student can be successful.
  • Implement IEP goals, planned strategies and activities for the student.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a behavior support plan when necessary.
  • Keep anecdotal records, work samples etc. to document student progress and history.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Assistant Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience and/or further training in supporting students with autism or FASD, personal care needs, or other learning differences.
  • Evidence of a strong sense of purpose and identity built on Biblical principles and participation in a local Christian church community.
