Position Title: Education & Career Program Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Workforce Programs
Organizational Mission: To empower and engage our community to eliminate poverty, and to create prosperity and equity in the lives of the people we serve.
Position Description: This position has an emphasis on working with individuals experiencing barriers to living wage and sustainable employment. The Education & Career Program Coordinator will support participants as they work on increasing their income by advancing education and employment goals through regular coaching.
The Education & Career Program Coordinator will put participants first in everything they do, by exemplifying radical hospitality (empathy, kindness, and patience) while recruiting and helping retain participant employees and/or students (with a strong commitment to individuals of color, women, and those experiencing poverty.)
Our processes are community driven and tailored to each participant that we are working with. This self-motivated position requires the ability to be a skilled collaborator, adaptable, solution focused, skilled in interpersonal communication, and engaging. A strong understanding of cultural humility and the systemic challenges of poverty are key.
Additionally, this position is responsible for facilitating GED/Adult Diploma program, planning short term workforce trainings (Certified Nursing Assistant & Trained Medication Aide), staffing computer lab, facilitating Digital Literacy classes, facilitating Career Readiness Curriculum, and providing referrals to additional Community Action Duluth programs. You will collaborate with other coaches, your manager, and other agency staff to ensure that participants are getting assistance across all service areas.
This is a grant-funded, 40 hour per week position. This position is non-exempt with a range of working hour options that span between 7am-8:30pm Monday – Friday. Benefits include PTO, holiday pay, health, dental and life insurance, 403b with company match and access to an Employee Assistance Program. Compensation is determined by experience and will be based on a range starting at $20.00/hour.Major Responsibilities
