Job Details Job Location: Lehi Branch - Mesa, AZ 85203 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $19.24 Hourly POSITION DESCRIPTION The Education Coordinator, under the direction of the Branch Director and working in conjunction with the Youth Development Supervisor and STEAM Makerspace Director, is responsible for developing, implementing, organizing, and supervising all education programming at the Branch. The STEAM Education Coordinator plans, develops, and oversees implementation of a broad range of STEAM-focused programs and program staff as related to specified priority outcomes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program Development & Implementation: Develops, organizes, and implements all education programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum. Runs and/or monitors makerspace program delivery and works with program staff to plan and implement improvements. Creates outcome measurements for education programming. Continually reviews effectiveness of education programming. Oversees implementation of education programming in Branch Computer Lab, Learning Center, Power Hour, Makerspace, as well as all other educational programs offered by the Club. In conjunction with the Youth Development Supervisor, supervises all part-time staff within the education department of the Branch. Education Coordinator | Page 2 of 4 Creates a dynamic, positive work environment for part-time staff. Maintains close daily contact with indirect reports. Provides coaching, training opportunities, redirection, and encouragement; helps develop skill set necessary for internal promotion. Works with Youth Development Supervisor, STEAM Makerspace Director and Branch Director to purchase needed supplies and program materials. Assists other staff with integrating education into their respective program areas in accordance with Project Learn philosophy. Fosters and maintains Club public relations. Encourages positive relationships between staff, and Club members and their families. Recruits and develops volunteers to help in program areas as well as to conduct specialty programs. Aids STEAM Makerspace Director and Branch Directors in completing reports and projects as requested by Administrative and/or Development staff. Health & Safety: Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized. Implements and ensures adherence to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale’s policies and procedures. Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making. Acts quickly in emergency situations. Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order. Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues. Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members. Resource Management: Assists with gathering and assembling materials/supplies needed for makerspace programming activities and special STEAM event activities. Ensures inventory levels at each Branch are within established limits. Documents and communicates inventory shortages and excess to STEAM Makerspace Director. Assists with set up, installation, and assembly of new equipment/tools. Ensures equipment at each Branch is in proper working order. Troubleshoots equipment as needed. Reports required repairs/maintenance to STEAM Makerspace Director. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Required: • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. • Minimum 2 years' work experience in an educational environment or a similar youth development organization. • Ability to multitask and adapt to Club’s changing needs. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills. • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology. • Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aide certifications. • Maintains a valid driver’s license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles. • Flawless ethics and integrity. • Safety oriented mindset. Recommended: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in a related field. Direct youth programming experience. Experience working in a non-profit setting. Experience or familiarity with tools such as 3D printers, AutoCAD, Arduino, Makey-Makey, Coding Platforms, Tynker, Scratch, BeeBot, and Robotics or Electronic Kits
