Description Food Moxie, a longstanding organization, also known as Weavers Way Community Programs, provides agricultural and nutritional education at two community partner locations, Stenton Family Manor (Stenton) and Saul Agricultural High School, in addition to serving the NW and surrounding areas and maintaining a space at Awbury Arboretum. Food Moxie provides skills, tools and resources for people to grow, cook and eat fresh, nutritionally dense food. We work with youth and adults with the goal to not only increase knowledge, but to empower people to make positive choices regarding their health and nutrition and increase leadership opportunities for youth through agriculture. We serve as an extension of Weavers Way Co-op’s mission and Ends. To coordinate educational experiences for community partners and members. Our Education Coordinator Provide educational instruction and outreach to promote Food Moxie programming. This position advances the nutritional and agricultural education impact on community for Food Moxie. The role is primarily off site and 20% remote from home. RESPONSIBILITIES Site Partner Education Foster relationships with staff and administration at partner sites, Awbury Arboretum, Saul High School and Stenton Manor Shelter. Correspond with site partners. Coordinate the Growing Site Manager’s maintenance of garden spaces at each site. Report weekly status updates for each site to the Executive Director. Provide 1-2 days of educational instruction at each partner site. Maintain and inventory education supplies Outreach and Engagement Attend, table and/or provide demonstrations at community events as scheduled Conduct a monthly service engagement for coop volunteers Document new contacts, leads and collaborators Communications Lead the monthly publication of the organization’s outreach email Gather content for social media posts Prepare quarterly update reports Community Relations Required to represent and promote Food Moxie and Weavers Way Coop positively in all interactions Connect community members to services and opportunities at Food Moxie and Weavers Way Coop where applicable Attend community meetings as a representative of Food Moxie when appropriate Note: Before beginning work, all potential Food Moxie employees must undergo a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, a Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check, a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check and a free online course mandated by Pennsylvania on Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse. Requirements A commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op. 3+ years of prior education experience. Fluency in Microsoft and Google Suite. Comfortable with field work as this position is primarily off site at partner site. Demonstrated success in project management. Strong understanding of community relations. Experience working in a service role for special populations. A background in gardening is preferred (professional, volunteer or recreationally) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with ability to self-manage and responsibly handle autonomy is required. A valid drivers license with regular and reliable access to a car is required. Ability to reliably travel between all locations including the warehouse. Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op. Comfortable working outdoors and in farming/gardening environments
Responsibilities
