MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree, and three (3) years of professional experience in curriculum design/development,
instructional materials design, and adult education. An additional four (4) years of professional experience as noted above may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. Or, additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
OR
Juris doctor or master’s degree in education.
OR
Two (2) years as an Associate Analyst with the Judicial Council of California performing education related duties or two (2) years of experience performing the duties of a class comparable in the level of
responsibility to that of an Associate Analyst in a California superior court or California state-level
government entity.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new programs and educational products as identified by the CJER Advisory Committee’s curriculum committees and in collaboration with subject matter experts. Work with court personnel and CJER staff to assess the needs and identify key components of the course content for the identified audiences in the development of the program course or education product. Provide educational consultation on best educational principles for addressing the need and presenting the content using the best delivery method.
  • Identify and recruit work groups and faculty to assist in the development of live courses (delivered remotely and in person), programs, videos, online courses, and job aids.
  • Working with court subject matter experts, deliver Court Clerk Training Institute courses every year.
  • Conduct needs assessment in consultation with supervisor and/or lead workgroup and/or court subject matter experts to identify the exact content participants need to learn. Develop learning objectives and ensure content matches those objectives. Compare and evaluate possible delivery methods and determine the most effective means of delivery.
  • Develop and/or teach faculty development and other employee development courses, like entry level leadership and computer skills, for court employees as a part of CJER’s efforts to provide training at local trial and appellate courts.

    The Judicial Council offers hybrid work arrangements for many positions. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council’s San Francisco or Sacramento office at least two days per week, based on their office leader’s direction, and reside in the areas surrounding these locations.
