Job Title: Education Manager
Country: Based in Cape Town, South Africa
About the project: EduConservationis a pan-African environmental educational project focusing on integrating well researched Africa-centric conservation resources to enrich and supplement the curricula of the formal education systems in African countries.
Purpose of the Job: The Education Manager, working in close collaboration with Lead Content Developers and in-country teams, leads the development of educational resources and teacher training programmes across EduConservation countries, supporting both formal and informal education. The role works closely with the Project Manager for Education and Development to uphold high standards, build team momentum, meet deliverables, and strengthen EduConservation’s position as a leader in environmental education. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teacher development, innovative and creative pedagogy, in-depth knowledge of curriculum design and content development, and a collaborative leadership style to support implementation and contribute to strategic planning.
Minimum Education Required: Master degree in education or related qualification
Minimum Experience Required: At least five (5) years of professional experience in primary education and content development. Previous experience in a management role and working within a non-profit setting is advantageous. Bilingual proficiency in French is a strong asset.
Minimum ICT Proficiency Required: Demonstrated ICT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Supervision: Incumbent supervised by Project Manager: Development and Education or EduConservation Programme Director

KPA 1: STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION

  • Work closely with Lead Content Developers and in-country collaborators to manage timelines, meet deliverables, and provide ongoing support.
  • Maintain strong, regular communication between EduConservation’s in-house development team and country teams to ensure alignment, responsiveness, and sustained momentum.
  • Coordinate cross-country workflows to keep outputs on track and uphold quality standards.
  • Foster a shared sense of purpose, team cohesion, and ownership across throughout the development and implementation phases.
  • Serve as a key liaison between country teams and programme leadership, ensuring that field insights inform overall strategy and decision-making.
  • Support the integration of conservation themes into core subjects, ensuring interdisciplinary relevance and measurable impact.
  • Work with relevant team members in the Design Process of educational materials.
  • Present a positive and supportive attitude to other tasks requested by Project Managers.
