DESIRED CAPABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Education, or related field.
  • 4–6 years of event and campaign marketing experience within higher education, EdTech, or B2B.
  • Proven track record collaborating with universities or career services
  • Expertise managing both virtual and live events; strong logistics, vendor, and platform know-how (e.g., Zoom, Goldcast, SplashThat).
  • Campaign management and cross-team collaboration skills in multi-channel marketing contexts.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, marketing automation tools (Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot).
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, with comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to measure event/campaign success and pivot strategy based on data/feedback.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an Education Marketing Manager based in San Francisco to engage and inspire our community of 1,500+ higher education career services partners. In this generalist role, you’ll lead campaigns, events, webinars, and create compelling content like case studies and customer stories to showcase impact and drive adoption. You’ll work closely with our partners to highlight their successes, share best practices, and strengthen the value they deliver to students’ career outcomes. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone eager to shape the voice of Handshake in higher ed and make a tangible difference for students nationwide.

  • Lead the Career Spark Awards— Be in charge of organizing and executing the Career Spark Awards (CSAs). This event celebrates the top career centers, recognized for their strong engagement with students and employers, based on Handshake data.
  • Manage Handshake Access for our college and university partners -Manage and promote our annual conference, Handshake Access - the largest virtual gathering connecting career services, employers, and thought leaders on early-career trends, DEI, AI, and more.
  • Own the calendar of EDU stakeholder workshops — Develop and maintain a full-year calendar of workshops and events tailored to higher education stakeholders, including career center leaders and practitioners.
  • Lead 3rd party conference strategy for higher education — Oversee planning and execution of flagship EDU conferences, from virtual summits to in-person gatherings.
  • Partner with EDU leadership on speaking engagements — Coordinate impactful speaking opportunities for EDU leaders at external and internal conferences.
  • Write & publish case studies featuring EDU partners — Highlight success stories from Career Spark Award winners, Access participants, and other higher ed partners, showcasing measurable impact.
  • Integrate events into broader campaigns — Collaborate with demand gen, ABM, content, and product marketing teams to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Handle logistics — Handle all event-related elements—platforms (Goldcast, SplashThat), venues, materials, swag—and work with design and operations teams to produce engaging collateral.
  • Measure & optimize — Track KPIs (attendance, engagement, brand awareness, lead generation), analyze ROI, and refine strategy based on insights.
