Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Education Mental Health Practitioner/Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner/Mental Health Practitioner within our Mental Health Support Teams across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
The MHSTs sit within the BeeU Service. The Bee U service is a partnership between Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and other organisations, such as Kooth, Healios and SYA. We all work together in multi-disciplinary teams in the interests of children and young people across the locality.
With 1 in 6 school children having a mental health problem the role delivers on the proposals outlined in the 2017 Government Green Paper ‘Transforming Children & Young People’s Mental Health,’ providing early intervention and support and promoting whole school approaches to mental health wellbeing. Since 2020, the MHST offer has grown year on year through Bee U and we currently have five teams serving a number of schools across the region.
The Teams sit within the ‘getting help’ aspect of the Thrive model and work closely with our Bee U colleagues, who deliver specialist CAMHS and assessment services. You will be involved with supporting the implementation and development of the MHSTs, embedding our services within our designated schools. We work from clinic bases and schools across the region to ensure our service is accessible to as many children, young people and families as possible, so flexibility to travel is integral to this role.
You will work with your colleagues to deliver the three core functions of Mental Health Support Teams. You will hold a caseload, undertaking assessments and offering brief evidence based interventions for children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health needs. This will include one to one support and group work, with children, young people, parents and carers.
You will also work collaboratively with schools, young people and their families and offer advice, consultation and training to staff within schools and other agencies where appropriate.
There is scope for creativity to promote mental health and implement the Whole School Approach within school settings and the community. This will include opportunities for co-production with young people and parents and collaboration with school staff and partner agencies.
By joining Team MPFT, you will be helping your communities and in return for this, we will support you by;
Supporting your career development and progression
Excellent NHS Pension scheme
Generous maternity, paternity and adoption leave
Options for flexible working
Up to 27 days annual leave (increasing with service up to 33 days) and the opportunity to purchase additional leave
Extensive Health and Wellbeing support and resources
If you work in our community teams, we pay for your time travelling between patients
Lease car if you complete more than 500 business miles per annum, fully insured and maintained (including tyres), mileage paid at lease car rate
Salary sacrifice car - fully insured and maintained (including tyres), your gross pay is reduced by the cost of the vehicle before tax, NI and pension deductions are calculated, mileage paid at business rates
Salary sacrifice bikes up to £2k
Free car parking at all trust sites
Free flu vaccinations every year
Citizens Advice support linked with a Hardship Fund for one off additional support up to £250 (if the criteria is met)
And more. We are proud to be a diverse and inclusive organisation and there is a choice of staff networks that help you meet like-minded people.
Please note, we may be required to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications
In this role we are seeking registered and qualified staff as an EMHP, CWP or with a core profession.
The role involves working in partnership and collaboratively with children, young, people, parents and professionals from a range of services, to help support identified needs.
