Description Munising Memorial Hospital is looking for an Education Outreach Coordinator to help bring awareness to our Medicare/Medicaid and Veteran patient base on their benefit resources, and provide strategies and educational tools to avoid becoming a victim of scams and fraud. Position Type: Full Time - Contractor (1099) Compensation: $45,000 Schedule: Monday-Friday during business hours (occasional evenings and weekend) This position is expected to be in place for 1 year. May extend to permanent. JOB SUMMARY: The Education Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and education to Medicare/Medicaid and Veteran beneficiaries. The Education Outreach Coordinator will provide education to Medicare/Medicaid beneficiaries, caregivers, and families on the prevention, detection, and reporting of Medicare/Medicaid fraud, errors, and abuse. The Education Outreach Coordinator will also assist patients with Veteran status for referrals and enrollment assistance for healthcare in the VA and/or community care; addressing social drivers of health, assisting with medication management, and track progress of referrals. Medicare Outreach Coordinator Accountabilities include but are not limited to: Conducting group education sessions at community-based locations, including senior centers, congregate meal sites, assisted living facilities, libraries, faith-based organizations, housing complexes, and community events. Provide education through MMH Mobile Health Unit outreach stops: common and emerging Medicare fraud and scam schemes, Medicare billing errors and identity theft. Deliver individual education during Mobile Health Unit visits when appropriate. Create and distribute plain-language printed educational materials such as PowerPoints. Conduct limited social media outreach to reinforce educational messaging in collaboration with Marketing Department. Protect confidential information such as Medicare numbers and personal information. Document education sessions and outreach events. Collaborate with community partners to identify and engage vulnerable Medicare beneficiaries. Conduct quarterly performance reports. Upload relevant documentation into grant registries to ensure compliance. Attend required Medicare/Medicaid educational seminars. Veteran Outreach Coordinator Accountabilities include but are not limited to: Help Veterans connect with benefits and resources. Provide education on fraud and scams. Provides enrollment assistance for healthcare in the VA and/or community care. Coordinate with local CVSO, following a close looped referral approach for follow-on assistance, information, and quality assurance. Compile and produce reports on program impact. Attend virtual meetings with Michigan Veteran Coordinators. Requirements Professional Requirements: Experience in educating the general public. 4-year college degree or 4 years of progressive related experience working with diverse populations, community, or in healthcare setting, or as an educator. Required to obtain Medicaid Redetermination certification once hired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong public speaking and presenting skills. Experience/comfort working and communicating with different socio-economic backgrounds. Experience with Medicare and Veteran Affairs is preferred. Organized with great attention to detail. Able to work autonomously. Experience with Microsoft Office. Able to generate reports. Willing to travel within 100 mile radius of the hospital. Physical Requirements: Prolonged walking, standing, sitting. Manual dexterity for computer use. Clear speaking and hearing abilities for communication, along with close/distance vision for reading. Ability to lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds. Occasional bending/stooping/twisting/turning.
