Responsibilities

A 1-year fixed-term vacancy has arisen for an Education Support Officer working in the Well-Being and Emotional Resilience Hub, to support children and young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs which are preventing them from returning to mainstream school. The main aim of this Hub is to support the reintegration of these children and young people back into mainstream schools, with a package of support which will ensure that this is both successful and sustainable, so that they can thrive.
Your role will be to liaise and work in partnership with schools/academies, children and young people, families and other services in relation to educational welfare with a view to supporting children and young people to access appropriate education. You will act as a key worker and offer individual support to children, young people and their families and will provide discrete packages of support where needed.
Please note that this role will be based at Gateshead Council Learning Centre in Dunston during term-time.
