QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Community College Certificate in a related field (preference will be given to New Brunswick certified teachers who hold the required ASL proficiency level and Deaf teaching/professional learning experience)
  • Minimum proficiency Level 4 on the ASL Proficiency Scale
  • A minimum of five years successful Deaf teaching experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies to perform the required tasks in specified curriculum areas.
  • Experience leading professional learning pertinent to Deaf culture.
  • Demonstrated competency using appropriate technologies to support students to access curriculum
  • Experience being a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting students with multiple exceptionalities.
Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Education Support Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for instructing students who are Deaf at various locations within the Anglophone South School District.
This teacher will provide leadership in the instruction of students who are Deaf. They will apply in-depth knowledge of effective teaching practices for Deaf learners and support the development and implementation of individualized instructional plans. The successful applicant will also apply their understanding of Deaf culture to support the academic and social-emotional development of students who are Deaf.
As a member of a collaborative school team, the teacher will contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the District Improvement Plan. They will also support the Director of Education Support Services with operational responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned.
