Title: Education & Vocational Specialist  Location: 4822 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60640 Schedule: Monday to Friday, (8:00am - 4:30pm) Summary:   This position provides case management supports that link participants to vocational and career options. The position also supports educational linkages, and in-program education of participants by developing and implementing curricula, providing in-program classroom like instructions for youth as needed. Engages in academic, recreational and physical education activities with youth. Provides mentorship to youth and supports linkage to GED, and vocational programs. This position supports youth in program milieu, monitors and supervises program participants and ensures a safe and secure environment both on site and during off-site activities. BCBS PPO, EPO, and HSA Plans    * Dental insurance.     * Vision insurance.     * 401(k) 3% Employer Contribution.     * Paid maternity leave.     * Paid paternity leave.     * Commuter benefits.     * Disability insurance     * FSA Spending Account    * Life Insurance    * Employee Assistance Program    * Special Vendor Discounted Offerings on Travel, Amusement Parks, etc.  Essential Functions:  Duties & Responsibilities  * Provides linkage case management support specific to vocational enhancement while in program and post- placement.  * Develop relationships with career development opportunity providers, and particular engagement with programs that support youth with high needs and additional social/emotional and mentorship supports.  * Develops and implement lesson plans and curricula for in-program educational support as appropriate.  * Assists participants with completion of school assignments to help youth remain on track with educational goals.  * Provides culturally competent instruction in various subject areas, including but not limited to ESL, math, science and health, based on participant’s educational and vocational plan.  * Engages in physical education activities and instruction, such as, but not limited to sports, cultural outings, and recreational activities.  * Monitors and supervises program participants individually and in groups.  * Ensures a safe and secure environment for program participants and staff on-site and during off-site activities.  * Helps program participant to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self, personal problems, and program participant's part in creating them.  * Provides transportation of program participants, as assigned.  * Household maintenance duties such as meals, laundry and hygiene instruction may occasionally be assigned.  * Other duties may be assigned  Education and Experience:  * Bachelors Degree in related field.   * Two (2) years teaching experience or related teaching experience, such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, classroom facilitation, etc.  * Experience teaching preferred. Expertise in a particular subject area is strongly preferred required.   Certifications/Licenses:  * A valid driver’s license required.   * Must successfully pass a background check.   Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):  * Experience teaching preferred. Expertise in a particular subject area may be required.  * Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in a second language may be required.  * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.   * Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.   * Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.   Work Arrangement:   * This role is not eligible for remote work. All hours will be worked in person.
