Post No. EDUSN40014 - Education Welfare Officer
Newport City Council is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated person to work in the Education Welfare Service. Improving attendance and punctuality is a key focus area for our Education Services. We are looking for someone who is committed to this challenge.
The Education Welfare Service provides support to children, families and schools and is committed to supporting all statutory school aged children in maximising their education potential through regular school attendance.
It is essential that you have extensive, recent experience of working with vulnerable children and their families and have knowledge of legislation related to school attendance. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. Possession of a current drivers licence is a necessary requirement for this post.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Fixed term until 31st March 2026 (secondment opportunity available).
