Description

Educational Assistant (EA) with ADST/STEM Focus – Part-Time
Location: Langley, BC
School: Whytecliff Agile Learning Centres (walc.ca)
About Us
Whytecliff is a BC Ministry of Education–accredited independent high school (Grades 8–12). Our welcoming, intimate campus feels more like a big home than a traditional school. With a close-knit team of 11–12 staff serving up to 56 youth, we offer a calm, caring, and collaborative environment for young people with diverse learning needs—including anxiety, depression, ASD, dyslexia, and ADHD.
Our program blends academics with Positive Youth Development, emphasizing mental health, social connections, and personal growth. Each year we create new opportunities shaped by student interests and staff strengths—launching clubs, building projects, and integrating learning across subjects to make education feel real and relevant.
About the Role
We’re looking for a part-time Educational Assistant with a passion for ADST/STEM and experience working with youth, ideally including neurodiverse learners. The role centers on supporting learning through hands-on, project-based activities. We encourage applicants to bring their own skills or interests that can connect with and expand on the passions of our youth—creating engaging opportunities where student curiosity and staff expertise overlap.

Depending on your background, you might:

  • Support students with design, trades, or maker projects (woodworking, textiles, robotics, coding, digital media, engineering challenges, etc.)
  • Assist in classrooms and provide one-on-one or small-group support to help youth stay engaged and successful
  • Help plan and guide hands-on workshops or clubs that build on youth interests while drawing on your strengths (e.g., design thinking, tinkering, art-tech fusions, entrepreneurship, or repair/build projects)
  • Collaborate with staff to connect ADST/STEM with science, art, or other subjects
  • Encourage youth to explore ideas, follow through on projects, and celebrate what they build and learn

This position is about sparking curiosity, supporting engagement, and co-creating opportunities that make learning practical, meaningful, and fun.
Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has experience working with youth in school or community settings (EA, tutor, youth worker, or similar role)
  • Brings an understanding of, or experience with, neurodiverse learners (ASD, ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, etc.)
  • Is kind, patient, and able to build strong connections with youth
  • Is excited by hands-on, project-based learning
  • Is flexible and open to tailoring activities around youth interests
  • Enjoys working as part of a collaborative, supportive team
  • Brings their own passions (STEM, trades, crafts, design, maker projects, etc.) that can enrich programming

A valid driver’s license is preferred.
