Job Title: Educational Consultant - Elementary RLA/Reading

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of five years experience in teaching
  • Knowledge and expertise in specific content and/or assigned specialty area

The Educational Consultant - Elementary RLA/Reading, shall be directly responsible to the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support. The Educational Consultant shall assist Region 18 local education agencies (LEA’s), administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders in the design, implementation, and delivery of effective curriculum, instruction, and assessments.

  • Plan, develop, conduct, and/or facilitate staff development designed to raise the level of student achievement in Region 18 LEA’s.
  • Collaboratively plan, develop and/or facilitate long-range instructional staff development programs across ESC teams for ESC (Education Service Center) and LEA’s (Local Education Agencies).
  • Actively participate as a member of the ESC/LEA team and within the appropriate Professional Learning Community (PLC).
  • Assist with compiling, analyzing, and/or interpreting data, such as student performance in relation to state standards and program evaluation, to attain program excellence.
  • Secure the aid of resource persons and consultants to supplement and enrich programs of local schools.
  • Assist with the development of procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of service center programs and recommend modifications as needed to attain ESC goals.
  • Keep abreast of current instructional practices and techniques, professional literature, and state and federal regulations related to job responsibilities.
  • Acquire, develop, and demonstrate new skills by participating in professional growth activities in cross-functioning teams.
  • Maintain open communication and confidentiality in accordance with the Texas Professional Standards of Ethics.
  • Assist LEA’s with enriching and improving student performance, effectively using elements of the planning process which include assessment, goal setting, objective development, resources, identification, timeline establishment, and evaluation design.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills and professional demeanor when communicating with clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support and/or other ESC administrators

  • Provide expertise and technical assistance for LEA’s in addressing issues that specifically impact curriculum, instruction, assessment/data, and instructional leadership issues.
  • Assist LEA’s with the adoption, implementation, and effective use of a quality curriculum process.
  • Provide LEA’s with information, staff development, and/or technical support for implementing quality instruction and differentiation.
  • Provide LEA’s with information and staff development for implementing quality instructional leadership practices.
  • Provide LEA’s with information and staff development for implementing quality assessment and data analysis practices.
  • Utilize technology within the ESC and with our clients to enhance communication as well as job efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Incorporate the use of technology into staff development as applicable and as new technology becomes available.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Instruction and School Support and/or other ESC administration.
