DEGREE IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE (ASL) INTERPRETING, CERTIFIED ASL INTERPRETER CREDENTIALS, AND 1+ YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AS AN ASL INTERPRETER IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

A contract position is available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs at a high school setting in Birmingham, AL. This role offers an opportunity to engage closely with students and staff, facilitating clear and effective communication in the classroom and school environment for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
  • Assist with communication during school events, parent meetings, and other activities as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interpreting duties.
